New iPhone App Works By Bump, Not Touch

It is somehow fitting that University of Chicago business school students would develop an iPhone app that works by bump, not touch, on Apple’s famed screen. After all, it was a former U of C professor, President Barack Obama, and his wife, Michelle, who helped to popularize the fist bump.

The new iPhone app, called “Bump,” transfers data from one iPhone to another (or an iPod Touch) simply by bumping each other. While one person holds an iPhone, he “bumps” hands with another user holding her iPhone. Then detailed contact information or just select data, such as a phone number, is shared.

Tumblrette is now Tumblr for iPhone

Tumblr is a popular blogging service, that authorizes one to create a microblog and provides lots of features that allows you personalize the service to a whole new level. The Tumblr team has renamed its Tumblrette application (for iphone) to Tumblr for iPhone. This application used to cost $1.99 earlier and now its free. In fact, Tumblrette proved so effective and efficient, the Tumblr team bought the app, made a few more changes, dropped the price to free, and redubbed it Tumblr.

Tumblr’s popularity is built on the ease with which people can post text, photos, links, sound clips and more. The iPhone app gives you access to all of these posting options except video. One great extra feature in the Tumblr app is the ability to record audio clips on the phone and post them directly to your tumblelog.

One of Tumblr’s core features is the Dashboard; you can access it through the iPhone app, where you can view updates from other Tumblr sites you follow as well as “re-blog” individual posts. Syncing contacts from your iPhone

One of the most important sets of information on your iPhone is your contacts. Many users have been faced with an issue when trying to sync their iPhone contacts with their computers. If you have entered your contact information on your iPhone first (not on your computer) and would now like to retrieve those contacts for your computer, this post is for you. Please read the entire post before attempting:To Sync your iPhone contacts from your iPhone to your computer:

  1. Be sure to have a backup of any contacts (export a vCard or .csv file from your contact management program) you may have on your computer that you want to keep.

  2. Plug your iPhone into your computer and launch iTunes. iTunes automatically creates a backup of your iPhone (including contacts).

  3. Once your iPhone is backed up, uncheck the “Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected” box.

  4. Under the “Info” tab, check which contacts you would like to sync.

  5. Click the “Sync” button in the bottom right corner of the iTunes window.

  6. iTunes will see that you are changing the contacts information for more than 5 percent of your data and ask if you would like to replace the data on the phone, replace the data on the computer, or merge all data.

    Replacing the data on the iPhone will erase everything you have entered on your phone and only show you what you had on your computer.
