New Official Wikipedia iPhone App Launched

Wikimedia Foundation, the main source behind Wikipedia, has released their own Wikipedia mobile app for the iPhone. You can avail the free app in the App Store. WIkipedia Foundation main focus is to provide an app that is very simple and very fast.

This convenient app allows users to access Wikipedia articles in iPhone-format. It offers you any required information; loads images quickly and texts are easy to read. For the whims and fancies you’ll have features to save favorite pages, edit pages or even browse tables of content. The apps also offer advanced featured like the ability to search in pages, or save certain articles for offline reading. All these makes it better option than other Wikipedia apps like Wikipanion. The Foundation has promised that more features will be added soon upon requests.

For those of you who have an iPhone or iPod Touch and requires to consult Wikipedia too often, its gud to download and try Wikipedia mobile. It’s a great app to have on your iPhone without spending a cent and you can always delete it if it’s not for you. In addition, its code is 100% open source and any programmer who is good at JS/HTML is encouraged to contribute.
